Man in his 70s dies after car collides with lorry

It happened on the N5 in Roscommon at around 10am today.

GARDAÍ AT CASTLEREA have issued an appeal for witnesses after a man in his 70s was killed in a car crash in Co Roscommon.

It happened at around 10am. A man in his 70s was seriously injured after his car was involved in a crash with a lorry between Strokestown and Tulsk.

He was taken to hospital by air ambulance, but was later pronounced dead. The driver of the lorry was not injured.

A section of the road remains closed as forensic tests are carried out, and diversions are in place.

The road has reopened following a technical examination and investigating Gardai are continuing to appeal for witnesses.
