Man killed after tractor crashes into ditch

It happened near a village outside Fermoy shortly after midnight. The 25-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 25-YEAR-OLD MAN has died after the tractor he was driving struck a ditch near the village of Glanworth, Co Cork, overnight.

It happened on the Glanworth to String Cross Road – outside Fermoy – at around 12.10am.

The young man was pronounced dead at the scene, and traffic diversions are in place this morning as gardaí carry out forensic tests.

The Coroner and the Health and Safety Authority have been notified, and a Garda family liaison officer appointed, a Garda statement said.

Anyone who witnessed the crash is being asked to contact Fermoy Garda Station on 025-82100.
