Cyclist dies in crash in Cork city centre

The man died in hospital last night, hours after being injured when he crashed into a bollard.

A CYCLIST IN his 40s has died after a collision in Cork city centre on Tuesday evening.

The man was seriously injured after he crashed into a bollard at Shandon Street at approximately 5.40pm last night.

He was brought to Cork University Hospital to be treated for his injuries but was pronounced dead late last night.

Gardaí in Cork have appealed for anyone who witnessed the crash to contact them at Watercourse Road garda station on 021 455 8260 or the Garda Confidential Telephone Line on 1800 666 111.

A forensic examination of the scene has been carried out and the road has reopened.
