Dana back on the road as gardaí investigate tyre blowout

A garda investigation has been launched into allegations the independent candidate’s campaign car was sabotaged.

DANA ROSEMARY SCALLON is back on the road in her campaign car following a dramatic tyre blowout on the M4 on Tuesday evening.

Dana was sleeping in the back of the car at the time and her husband was driving.

No one was injured in the incident, but both Dana and her husband Damien have voiced their concerns over the blowout, suggesting that it may have been the result of sabotage. Dana said they felt lucky “to be here today” after the incident.

Gardaí have confirmed to TheJournal.ie that a formal complaint has been lodged and an investigation into the claims is underway.

It is understood that CCTV footage of the area the car was parked in on Tuesday as Dana campaigned in Leitrim will be examined. The tyre will also be technically examined by garda experts.

The independent candidate used public transport while canvassing yesterday in Dublin city, but her car has since been returned to her by gardaí.
