Dartmouth Sq and shopping street in Clonmel sell at auction

The two-acre Georgian garden square in Ranelagh was sold for €142,000.

THERE WAS A full house today for the Allsop auction at the Shelbourne Hotel, the day before Budget 2013.

For the seven hour sale, 104 lots were offered, of which 91 sold at the value of €14.3 million.

The lots of most interest were were Lot 48, the shopping street in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary and Lot No 24, Dartmouth Square, Dublin 6.

The two-acre Georgian garden square surrounded by some of Dublin’s finest period red bricks initially did not sell under the hammer. However, four pre-registered bidders were in attendance and negotiations shortly after concluded with a sale of Dartmouth Square to party in trust for €142,000. It was the subject of a dispute after it was bought by controversial businessman Noel O’Gara in 2005.

Featuring an entire shopping street, Market Place in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary, which included 18 shopping units sold for €920,000, €20,000 over the reserve price.

Robert Hoban, Director of Auctions at Allsop Space said:

In advance of tomorrow’s budget, it is positive to see such continued activity in the property market. A substantial number of overseas investors actively participated in today’s sale, demonstrating a vote of confidence in the market as it currently stands.

The last Allsop Space auction took place two months ago at the start of October, the next will take place on Friday, 1 March 2013.

Yup… those red liners will be laughing all the way to the post office or the methadone clinic this Wednesday morning wondering just what exactly is this ‘work’ thing that their South Dublin counterparts are so concerned to be missing.

@ Shane Walsh only spotting your comment now:
If using the red line since its inception in 2004 first for school & college, and now to go to work making in excess of 460 trips per year (allowing for annual leave/bank holidays) for the last 6/7yrs qualifies me as a blow in so be it

Its same problem as yesterday. They dont have the skills to repair. Any technical fault and they have to go to the foreign companies that built it. Makes you wonder why they pay local engineers? After last nights investigations they have just madw the problem worse by disabling the whole line.
