Dublin: Pedestrian dies in city centre incident

Gardaí said the man in his 20s was struck by a bus at the junction of Nassau Street and Dawson Street.

A MAN IN his 20s has died in an incident on Dawson St in Dublin city centre this evening.

This evening Gardaí said they are investigating the “suspicious death” of a man at the junction of Nassau Street and Dawson Street at 5.45pm.

Gardaí said that the incident involved a bus, and that the pedestrian was fatally injured when he was struck. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Gardaí and the fire brigade attended the scene of the incident earlier this evening.

Dublin Bus has said that due to an accident on Dawson St, it is closed to traffic and all buses are being diverted.

No buses are serving Nassau St and “huge delays” are expected. According to Dublin City FM, Cuffe St from Aungier St is now also closed.

Gardaí said the services of the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau have been requested and appealed for any witnesses to contact Pearse Street Garda Station on 01- 6669000, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
