Johnson was shot multiple times as he walked through Harelawn Green in Clondalkin.

Updated 9.55pm

THREE MEN HAVE been arrested as part of an investigation into the 2013 murder of Dean Johnson.

Gardaí took two men into custody this morning, and this evening arrested a third man.

Johnson was shot multiple times as he walked through Harelawn Green in Clondalkin in August of last year and today’s arrests bring to seven the number of people that have been held in connection with his murder.

Three men were seen running from a black Vauxhall Vectra car around the time of the shooting with the vehicle later discovered on fire in a nearby housing estate.

Gardaí arrested two men this morning in Dublin. They are in their 20s, with one being held in Lucan and the other in Ronanstown.

This evening a 25-year-old man was arrested in Dublin in connection with the investigation – the eighth so far.

Gardaí also say that a number of searches are currently ongoing in the Dublin and Kildare areas as part of the murder probe.

Previous garda searches carried out by gardaí investigating the murder led to the discovery of a sawn off shotgun, ammunition and drugs.
