Man arrested after elderly man killed in collision involving teleporter vehicle

The driver of the car, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

GARDAÍ IN LISTOWEL are investigating all of the circumstances surrounding the death of a man in his 70s, following a collision involving a car and a teleporter vehicle.

The incident occurred in Ratoo, Ballyduff, Co Kerry.

Gardaí were called to the scene of the collision at 8.45am this morning.

The driver of the car, a man in his 70s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the teleporter was not injured.

The Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist have been requested to attend the scene.

Results of their examinations will dictate whether investigators launch a formal murder probe.

A man in his 60s has been arrested by gardaí, and is currently detained under section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, according to a statement from the force issued this morning.

Ballyduff is located around 16km to the west of Listowel, in the north of Co Kerry.
