Detective investigating missing money from Dublin garda station

The estimated €9,000 in cash was recovered in a botched robbery but is now missing from Balbriggan Garda Station.

A DETECTIVE SUPERINTENDENT is investigating the disappearance of €9,000 in cash from Balbriggan Garda Station, Co Dublin.

RTÉ News are reporting that the money was in the north Dublin station after it was recovered moments after a robbery at a shop in Lusk on 19 January.

Three men, aged in their mid-20s and late 40s, were making off with around €26,000 when they were apprehended and arrested by gardaí.

The stolen money was kept at the station in Balbriggan before being returned to its owner but a tear was discovered in the bag and €9,000 missing.

A garda spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that they couldn’t go into too much detail about the incident because the matter is being investigated at the moment.
