A SUSPECT EXPLOSIVE device has been found at a house in Belfast.

The PSNI said today that police in west Belfast are attending a security alert in the Hawthorn Street area following the discovery of a suspect explosive device at a house.

The street has been closed and a number of evacuations of homes have taken place.

Army technical officers have been tasked to the scene.
