Organisers of teenage discos slapped with big tax bill

In total, there’s €16.67m worth of settlements on the latest tax defaulters list.

A FAMILY THAT runs teenage discos has made settlements with Revenue totalling hundreds of thousands of euro.

According to the latest tax defaulters list, Donal Bolger made a settlement of €408,532.

This figure includes tax due of just under €164,000 with additional interest and penalties.

Bolger’s profession is listed as a retired disco operator with an address at 16 Seacourt Road in Clontarf.

Ross Bolger, listed at the same address, made a settlement of €50,928.

Warren Bolger, of 31 Mount Prospect Avenue Clontarf, made a settlement of €35,612.

Warren Bolger has organised the ‘Blaze’ disco hosted in Clontarf Rugby Club, the same site as the ‘Cricket Club’ disco which went before it.

Asked about the being on the tax defaulters list, Donal Bolger said that he wasn’t aware of it but that his tax affairs are handled by his accountant.

“My tax accountant is in dispute of all of that,” he said.

The latest tax defaulters list contains details of 107 cases with settlements totaling €16.67 million.

The largest single settlement was by Colm Redmond of Zetland Hotel, Cashel Bay, Connemara.

The company director made a settlement of over €2.3 million.
