43-year-old man to face Special Criminal Court this evening in connection with dissident activity

The man was arrested in Co Monaghan last Wednesday.

A MAN IN his 40s is due to appear before a special sitting of the Special Criminal Court in Dublin at 8.30pm tonight in connection with dissident republican activity.

As part of ongoing operations targeting dissident republician activity in the border region, gardaí attached to the Special Detective Unit, Crime and Security, the Emergency Response Unit and gardai from the Cavan/Monaghan Division arrested the 43-year-old in the Scotstown area of Monaghan on Wednesday 25 November.

The man was arrested under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act, 1939 as amended and is detained at Carrickmacross Garda Station.
