Bomb making components seized and two arrested over dissident activity

The two men were arrested after gardaí stopped a van in Monaghan Town shortly before midnight on Friday.

GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING DISSIDENT republican activity have arrested two men in Monaghan.

The two men were arrested after gardaí stopped a van in Monaghan Town shortly before midnight on Friday.

During the search of this van components for bomb making were discovered. These items and the van were seized for technical examination.

Two men, aged 25 and 50, were arrested and are currently being detained at Monaghan Garda station under the provisions of section 30 Offences Against the State Act.
