Donogh Diamond

Donogh Diamond new editor of RTÉ's Prime Time

The reporter and presenter has been with the flagship show for 15 years.

LONG-TIME Prime Time reporter Donogh Diamond has been announced as the new Editor of the flagship RTÉ current affairs show.

Diamond, who joined the PT team in 1997, was previously a reporter and presenter on the RTÉ show Marketplace and Current Account. Prior to joining RTÉ in 1995, he spent five years as a staff reporter in the Irish Press group.

As Editor of Prime Time, Diamond will report directly to the Managing Editor of Current Affairs, David Nally, who said that Diamond is “one of the most experienced television reporters in Ireland”.

Diamond said:

I’m delighted and privileged to be appointed Editor of the country’s flagship TV Current Affairs programme. I look forward to leading a team which aims to keep the highest-quality journalism at the very core of the RTÉ schedule.

The new appointment is part of the restructuring of the RTÉ current affairs and news division, sparked by the controversy over the Prime Time Investigates programme, A Mission to Prey.
