Gardaí smash Drogheda drug network: Fourteen arrested in 48 hours

The operation — mounted over the last four months — used “advanced analytical and intelligence methods,” Gardaí say.

FOURTEEN PEOPLE HAVE been arrested in the last 48 hours in the culmination of a months-long Garda effort to smash a drug distribution network in the Drogheda area.

The operation — mounted over the last four months — was carried out by local officers, backed by the National Drug Unit.

Thirteen men and one woman have been detained. They range in age from 17 to 48.

The investigation was mounted to target “the sale and supply of Heroin, Cannabis herb and other controlled drugs in the Drogheda area,” a statement said.

All 14 are expected to appear before Drogheda District Court at 10.30am tomorrow.

Gardaí say “advanced analytical and intelligence methods” were used as part of the effort to dismantle the criminal network.
