Kildare: Gardaí seize heroin and cocaine worth up to €5.5 million

The drugs were found during a search and arrest operation in Naas yesterday.

HEROIN AND COCAINE worth up to €5.5 million was seized by gardaí in Co Kildare yesterday.

As part of an ongoing investigation, members from the Garda National Drugs Unit carried out a search and arrest operation yesterday afternoon in Naas, Co Kildare.

During the operation, two vehicles were searched, resulting in the seizure of approximately 35kgs of heroin and cocaine with an estimated street value of between €3.5million and €5.5 million (pending analysis).

Two males aged in their 30s were arrested and are currently detained under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act, 1996, at Naas Garda station.

In follow up searches yesterday evening in the Palmerstown and Celbridge areas, gardaí seized cocaine, cannabis herb and heroin with an estimated street value in excess of €1.25 million (pending analysis).
