Drugs worth €200,000 seized

Gardaí found a cannabis growhouse in a house in North Co Dublin last night, which included a “sophisticated lighting and irrigation system”.

A CANNABIS GROWHOUSE was found in a rural house in North Co Dublin yesterday.

As a result of an intelligence led investigation a search was carried out by members of the Garda National Drugs Unit at a rural house in Ballyboughal.

Gardaí found a fully functioning growhouse in the house with approximately 350 plants “at different stages of maturation”.

They also found 4kgs of herbal cannabis. The total estimated street value of this find is €200,000 – subject to further analysis.

They said that a sophisticated lighting and irrigation system was installed in two rooms in the house and there was also one outhouse.

Two men, aged 27 and 32 years, were arrested and are now detained at Ballymun Garda Station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996.
