Update: 17-year-old girl dies in Dublin collision

A 19-year-old male was also seriously injured in the crash.

A 17-YEAR-OLD girl has been killed and a 19-year-old male injured in a crash involving a car and a bus this evening.

The collision between the car and a Dublin Bus on the 27 route occurred at about 5pm on the Greenhills Road between the Walkinstown roundabout and the Ballymount Junction in Dublin.

Three ambulances were sent to the scene where the two people were trapped in the car. It is understood that the girl, who was the front seat passenger, was unconscious and in critical condition when emergency services arrived. Both were cut out of the car by Dublin Fire Brigade and taken by ambulance to Tallaght Hospital where the 17-year-old was pronounced dead.

The male driver, who is understood to have a head injury, is described as being in serious condition. The driver and one passenger from the bus were taken to St. James’s Hospital with injuries described as minor.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and diversions are in place.

Gardaí have appealed for witnesses to this collision to contact Crumlin Garda Station on 01- 6666200, The Garda Confidential Telephone Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
