Man arrested after shots fired at house on Dublin's northside

It is believed that the home is owned by an acquaintance of the Hutch family and an unarmed garda was just 100 metres away at the time.

GARDAÍ IN DUBLIN are investigating after shots were fired at a house in the city.

A number of shots were fired at a house in Drumalee Park, just off the North Circular Road this afternoon. The incident occurred when a man was approached by another man with a firearm on Drumalee Rd.

The first man fled into his back garden and then into his house, when a number of shots were discharged. He was uninjured and the male with the firearm fled the scene in a red car driven by a second man.

A burning car was recovered a short time later at Regal Park, just off Blackhorse Avenue. Both scenes are currently preserved for a forensic examination.

A 32-year-old man was arrested and is being detained at Store Street Garda station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act 1939 as amended.

It is believed that the home is owned by an acquaintance of the Hutch family and an unarmed garda was just 100 metres away at the time.

Gardaí in the Bridewell are appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area to contact them in the Bridewell on 01 666 8000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda station.
