Dublin nursing home taken over by HSE

The HSE has taken control of a Dublin nursing home, and responsibility for its elderly residents, after HIQA secured a court order to cancel the home’s registration.

THE HSE HAS taken control of a Dublin nursing home after the Health Information and Quality Authority obtained a court order to cancel the home’s registration.

Rostrevor House Nursing Home in Orwell Road, Rathgar, currently cares for about 23 people. The Dublin District Court cancelled the home’s registration on Friday and the HSE took over the care of patients at 5pm that day, RTÉ reports.

The HSE plans to find new accommodation for residents and to ensure their “safety and wellbeing”, according to InsideIreland.ie.

In 2005, the home was fined €8,000 by the Dublin District Court for ten breaches of regulations. A HIQA inspection in April 2010 concluded that the home was well-managed.
