Gardaí investigating sudden death of man at Dundalk pub

Gardaí have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the man’s death.

GARDAÍ IN LOUTH are investigating the sudden death of a man in the Dundalk area last night.

Gardaí were called to the Readypenny Inn on the Ardee Road where a man had collapsed late last night. It is understood the publican was clearing the bar out at the end of the night when he fell ill.

He was taken to hospital where he passed away in the early hours of this morning.

A Garda spokesperson said they are investigating “the sudden death of a male”.

Earlier reports suggested there may have been a row at the bar, but a source said the circumstances of the man’s death are not believed to have been suspicious.

A post-mortem is due to take place today.
