Two men rescued after fishing vessel sinks off West Cork island

The operation was concluded successfully this evening.

TWO MEN WERE rescued after their fishing vessel got into trouble this afternoon off Dursey Island along the Cork coast.

The Shannon-based Rescue 115 helicopter was tasked to the scene as part of a rescue operation coordinated by the Valentia Rescue Coordination Centre.

The Castletownbere RNLI lifeboat was also launched as part of the rescue and recovered the men late this evening.

The men have since been brought ashore at Castletownbere with rescuers saying that they are uninjured.
