LA hit by earthquake but some thought it was just their noisy neighbours

The quake hit in the early hours of this morning.

A SHALLOW EARTHQUAKE has rattled the Los Angeles area, causing panic, but there are no initial reports of damage or injuries.

The 3.5-magnitude quake hit at 9:17 pm (04.17am GMT today) at a depth of six miles, the US Geological Survey (USGS) said.

Its epicenter was only a kilometer from the View Park-Windsor Hills neighbourhood, which is just outside the city.

Los Angeles Fire Department activated its emergency earthquake mode, saying on Twitter:

Firefighters assessing response area. No damage reported at this time.

The quake was trending on Twitter, with many users saying their homes shuddered but others not even feeling it at all. Other LA residents thought that their neighbours were just moving furniture around:
