Mother of Edinburgh toddler charged over death

The disappearance of Mikaeel Kular sparked a massive search in the Scottish capital. His body was found late on Friday.

THE MOTHER OF three-year-old Mikaeel Kular — the Scottish boy whose disappearance sparked a massive search this week — was charged late last night in connection with his death.

Police said a 33-year-old woman had been charged following the discovery of Mikaeel Kular’s body shortly before midnight on Friday, miles from his home in Edinburgh.

Media reports named the woman as Rosdeep Kular, his mother.

The toddler, who is of South Asian origin, went missing from his bed on Wednesday night, sparking a major search that involved more than 200 members of the public.

A body believed to be Mikaeel’s was found in Fife, to the north of the Scottish capital.
