Elderly man dies after being hit by car in Mayo

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with information to come forward.

AN ELDERLY MAN has died after he was struck by a car in Mayo last night.

The 73-year-old was struck by a car at Kilkeeran, Kilmaine, Co. Mayo at about 8pm.

He was taken to Castlebar Hospital where he passed away in the early hours of this morning.

The woman driver in her late 20s was uninjured.

The scene is preserved and the local road is closed to facilitate Garda Forensic Collision Investigators. Local diversions are in place.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the collision or anyone with information to contact Claremorris Garda Station on 094 – 9372080, The Garda Confidential Line 1800 666111, or any Garda Station.
