Irish graduates in Australia sought for jobs back home

Recruiters at Robert Walters want Irish emigrants who have gained experience in financial services.

A DUBLIN-BASED recruitment firm is hoping to lure Irish emigrants back home by holding a number of job fairs in Australia for positions in the Irish financial sector.

Recruiters at Robert Walters are to send consultants to Melbourne and Sydney in the coming months to find Irish graduates who have gained experience in financial accounting, general accounting, audit, funds and insurance while on working visas.

Managing Director Louise Cambell says that over the past six to nine months in particular they have noticed a skill shortage in these areas and that the companies they work for have encouraged them to look abroad for experienced Irish graduates:

We have spoken to a huge number of our clients, who have told us to tell emigrants with experience ‘please tell them we’re recruiting’. So we want to give them the message that the market has picked up in certain areas.

Campbell says that the company already has a large number of Irish on their books in Australia and has not only placed them in positions over there but has already found jobs for a number back in Ireland.

She added that the company used to run these roadshows on a smaller scale but demand has allowed them to ramp it up:

We’re hoping to meet between 300 – 400. Over 200 have already confirmed they’re attending and we’d be hoping to place the vast majority.

Campbell said they are specifically requesting Irish graduates because most of the positions are permanent but that Australian graduates looking to come to Ireland on a working visa should also attend as a number companies are hiring  on a contract basis.

The job fairs will take the form of interviews during the day followed by a drinks reception in the evening. The first event will take place in Melbourne on 26 August with Sydney following suit on 2 September.

Those interested should visit http://www.robertwalters.ie/ for details on how to get in touch.

Dress it up, modern , new urban, this is designed to generate the maximum profit, by renting or selling people a bedroom, with access to facilities. There is very little that remains of the soul of Ireland.

These rooms have 16 sqm per room. Teagasc recommend 20 sqm for horses in each individual stable space.

@Padraic O Sullivan: You can guess that the total living space divided by the max amount of “residents” will bring it over the 20 metrr mark :-)

@Kieran Murphy: should not exist in anyone’s back yard, especially at 1500 euro a month. If the Government say that this model is part of the housing solution, then at least should be at 500 a month

This is a last gasp and grasp by the vulture funds bankers & developers shielded for so long by the hegemonic ffg/rcc troika.

The people need to have their voices heard.

    GE2020 Mark 2.

These are not the type of housing reqs needed or wanted in Ireland.

Forcing people, human beings, to live like cattle or battery hens is not the way forward.

I would consider living here. My main question is, how much would it cost a month? At the moment I pay €500 for a double bedroom. I can’t afford anymore than that. If these units are to be priced at closer to €1500/month, what is the point? They will be unaffordable to the suggested target market.

Am I wrong in saying that Rathmines was traditionally an area populated by students and young workers but has become more of a gentrified neighbourhood recently with fewer and wealthier (and thus older, more established) residents? This development just seems to be creating more housing for the students/young workers who are finding themselves pushed out of the neighbourhood. I do not think the developer is aiming at families currently finding themselves in temporary accommodations or on housing lists. The groups who protest co-living accommodations in leafy south Dublin neighbourhoods (and sorry Mr Kelly, Rathmines is at least 3km INSIDE the M50, you ain’t “peripheral to Dublin”) never seem to be too bothered that we are shoe-horning in dozens of social housing units in north city and the villages in the peripheral of the city. Often in areas with limited access to employment and transport (not to mention destroying what green spaces are left in these communities). But heck, plan one shared accommodation style development in their neighbourhood and they freak out like the developer is trying to build 19th century tenements.

There is zero parking available, people. It is not a residential street, it fronts Rathmines Road. Rathmines Road is a nightmare on weekdays during rush hour. Rents are traditionally high in Rathmines so there will be no saving up for a house down payment.

This is actually an excellent idea for young people coming to the city. They can make friends and share activities, while still maintaining their privacy when needed.

There are many of these in London and residents are never short of someone to go to the movies or play games with, as well as sharing celebrations.

As max said in heart to heart.. “this time we knew it was murder” they’ll be charging 1500 a month by the time there available with inflation used as an excuse

Maybe as a starting place… then at least you can recoup your money instead of losing it forever to a landlord when you are ready to move onto something more suitable for a future family… it may not be “the greatest thing since the sliced pan” but it is one small way to help alleviate the shortage in living space… do you expect a builder to do it without making a profit? They won’t build anything without it…..
