Busy man: Taoiseach in Budapest, Vienna and Berlin today

Enda Kenny meets with two heads of government and picks up his ‘European of the Year’ award today.

TAOISEACH ENDA KENNY will visit three European capitals today as part of his ongoing mission to visit the heads of government of all EU states ahead of Ireland assuming the EU presidency next year.

Kenny will be in Hungarian capital Budapest this morning to meet with Hungary’s Prime Minister Viktor Orban  before he travels to Vienna to meet with Austria’s Chancellor Werner Faymann.

The Taoiseach will discuss Ireland’s priorities for its EU presidency which begins on 1 January as well as bilateral issues and what the government says are ‘broader EU matters’.

The meeting comes in advance of a special European Council meeting on 22 and 23 November.

Later tonight, the Taoiseach will be in Berlin to attend a ceremony hosted by the German Magazine Publishers Association (VDZ) who have awarded him the European of the Year gong.
