It got a bit feisty at Leaders’ Questions today.

THERE WERE FRACTIOUS scenes in the Dáil this afternoon as opposition parties raised questions about IBRC’s sale of Siteserv in 2012.

After fresh revelations about the €45 million transaction, both Fianna Fáil and Sinn Féin raised the matter at Leaders’ Questions.

In response to questions from Micheál Martin, Taoiseach Enda Kenny noted that Anglo Irish Bank (which became IBRC) was “the rotten carcass that brought down the country” and cost the taxpayer €30 billion.

Then, after Gerry Adams heavily criticised Kenny for his lack of sufficient response, the Fine Gael leader launched into his Sinn Féin counterpart:

You’re the ultimate hypocrite. You come in here week after week with your bleeding heart.

He said that Adams had consistently failed to answer any questions “about your own goings on or your party party’s goings on or the links with a lot of dubious characters”.

Kenny accused Adams of not fulfilling his mandate by “not telling the truth about whole range of issues on your own side”.
