Kenny will have to keep his wits about him as the last store that opened in Berlin reportedly had a mob of teenagers outside hours before the opening.

This is not an uncommon scene at the opening of a new Primark store. Long queues and crowds of young teenage girls often gather outside a new store.

Primark, who operate their head offices in Dublin and Reading, have become a retail giant from humble beginnings.

The opened their first store in Dublin in 1969. They now operate 38 stores in Ireland.

Primark have expanded into Europe and now have stores in the UK, Spain, The Netherlands, Germany, Portugal , Belgium, Austria and France.

Primark’s latest results show the firm’s profits rose by more than a quarter to £298 million in the six months to March, while the company achieved sales worth £2.3 billion – up 14 per cent on last year.

While in Germany, Kenny will also visit the Irish Embassy, meet with Chancellor Angela Merkel and deliver a key note address at an the Wirtschaftsrat Deutchland Economic Conference.
