Enterprise Rent-A-Car opens first franchise in 55 years

Guerin Car Rental Solutions in Portugal was appointed a franchisee, bringing the brand’s European presence to six countries.

ENTERPRISE RENT-A-CAR has opened its first franchise in Portugal – and appointed Guerin Car Rental Solutions to look after it.

This is the first time in its more than 55-year history that Enterprise Holdings is franchising its flagship Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand.

This agreement brings the Enterprise Rent-A-Car brand’s European presence to six countries – the UK, Germany, Ireland, France, Spain and Portugal – representing more than 65 percent of the European car rental market.

The company is also to rebrand the recently acquired Citer and Atesa operations in France and Spain.

The company – through its regional subsidiaries – operates the largest fleet of vehicles in the world and a global network of more than 8,200 airport and neighbourhood locations.

Since 1989, Guerin has been a leader in Portugal’s car rental sector with a nationwide presence in all metropolitan centers and major airports.

@Eoin Byrne: the last thing the airport needs is more bars and tvs the travelling masses of muppets don’t know how to behave and make enough of a mess , i regularly use Dublin -Dubai route and its already frequently an embarrassment when theres drunken Irish muppets on the flights

Pity they wouldn’t trial a flight from Shannon which could serve customers from Southwest and West
Shannon has efficient US preclearance and an updated duty free and terminal

I hope this doesn’t stop any of the “stars” from making their regular pilgrimages to the slavery capital of the modern world. Most of the slaves in Dubai, mainly from third world countries, are paid less than $100 per month, and they sleep 100 to a room. Anyone organising petitions or demonstrations to support abolition of slavery in the arab muslim world? Nah, didn’t think so.

While there are serious infrastructure issues to be resolved at Dublin Airport, I find it hard to believe Emirates can cite this as a reason not to launch a third daily frequency. They have a clause in their contract that means their aircraft can’t be delayed waiting for gates or ground handling. So while Aer Lingus flights are waiting on the taxiway after long flights from the states for a gate to be freed up, Emirates aircraft will taxi straight in to their gate.

I think this decision has more to do with the arrival of Qatar, Cathay Pacific and Hainan Airlines onto the market.

@Ben Labbe: the (lack of) efficiency of Service Air doesn’t help the passenger experience, (maybe not all their fault?? could be a few factors) already four times this year had about 45min waits at the carrousel. Otherwise great airport with great staff, esp T1 which has more character than T2.

@powerfix: They (the sponsors of Emirates, Gulf, Qatar Airlines) have sovereign wealth funds of trillions of dollars. They’re prepered to run these airlines at a massive loss to get market share. That’s why they can’t accept even a single muslim “refugee” from their neighbouring countries but Europe has to destroy itself by taking millions of them. You don’t read see much about that in the Irish Times or RTE.

if we are nt careful we will end up knocking down houses and moving people to allow Dublin Airport to grow bigger and bigger. Whether this is a good thing or not is a matter of debate, certainly it is nice to think that you can now fly to so many extra new places and with so many different airlines then a few decades ago, but that comes at a price and the new runway is a start, but the terminals are also an issue and it is not the average annual pass-through that counts but the peak volumes and this seems to be the underlying problem to be resolved moving forward.

Just flew back from Fuerteventura airport and that’s world-class, they even had the match on a huge screen while waiting to board for their customers. And then you land in that dump T2 and you look at what they have on the top of the luggage carousel: a stupid red box looking like a 1920′s suitcase complete with stupid looking handles that some have fallen off all to let you know that you should not pick up the wrong luggage. It’s like something a kid would construct. World class my ass. Emirates would be well to do and forget about any development in this place as most in control are against it.
