Daughter sues parents in Austria for posting photos of her on Facebook
The 18-year-old woman recently joined the social network where she discovered 500 images of her that had been posted by her parents without her permission.
AN 18-YEAR-OLD woman in Austria is suing her parents for posting photos of her on Facebook from when she was a child and for refusing to remove them.
The woman, who has only just joined Facebook and who has not been named, says that her parents have posted 500 photos since 2009 on the social network without her permission, Austrian magazine Die Ganze Woche reports.
She claims that those images have been shared with her parents’ 700 Facebook friends.

The photos include baby images of the woman, including some of her having her nappy changed and of her going through potty training.
“They knew no shame and no limit – and didn’t care whether it was a picture of me sitting on the toilet or lying naked in my cot,” she told Die Ganze Woche.
I’m tired of not being taken seriously by my parents.
The woman’s father, who has also not been named, also gave an interview to the magazine in which he defended his “right” to share the photos if he wished.
“I consider it my right to be able to publish these photos,” he said.
This is our child after all.
The case is the first of its kind in Austria, which has more lax social media privacy laws than those found in most parts of Europe. That could all change should the woman win her lawsuit however.
