Facebook Messenger now has a weirdly addictive football game hidden away

Should you need a(nother) quick way to kill some time.

FACEBOOK MESSENGER HAS a number of sporting easter eggs hidden away in its app. As well as a chess game that lets you play against a friend and a basketball game, it now has a football game hidden away.

If you send a football emoticon to one of your contacts, tapping on it will bring up a keepy-uppy mini-game for you to play.

Playing it is a matter of tapping the ball at the right time and seeing how many times you can keep it up before it hits the ground.

Those who remember Flappy Bird – a game that was controlled with taps and allowed almost no margin for error – will find a lot of similarities here. It’s simple to play, but getting a higher score than 10 is harder than you would think.

You don’t have to send it to a friend. Just sending it to yourself and tapping on the emoticon is enough to activate it (if you want to practice first before you challenge someone).

FB M 3

The game is included with the latest update of Facebook Messenger so if it doesn’t work, update it first and try again. Just don’t be surprised if you keep having one more go.
