Man (40) killed in farming accident in Cork

The accident happened at 7.20pm last night.

A 40-YEAR-OLD man has been killed in a farming accident in County Cork.

Gardaí said the man was fatally injured when he was struck by the front loader of a tractor on a farm in Mourneabbey near Mallow at about 7.20pm last night.

Gardaí and the emergency services were called to the farm, but the man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was taken to Cork Universtiy Hospital for post-mortem. Gardai preserved the scene for technical examination.

The coroner and the Health and Safety Authority were both notified of the accident and  investigations into the accident have begun.
