Woman dies in Longford road collision involving pick-up truck

The incident took place just after 6pm this evening.

A WOMAN HAS died in a fatal road collision in Longford this evening.

Gardaí said they are investigating the collision, which occurred at Curry, Kenagh, Longford on the main Longford to Athlone Road.

They said that the two vehicle crash happened at about 6.10pm this evening.

A woman in her late 20s, who was the driver and only occupant of a car, was fatally injured in the collision.

The driver and two passengers of a pick-up truck were also injured.

All were taken to Midland Regional Hospital at Mullingar and their condition is not known at this time.

The road at the scene remains closed pending an examination of the area by Garda forensic collision investigators.
