Own a Bentley? You'll never have to visit a petrol station ever again

Only in America for now though. Sorry.

THESE DAYS WE’RE becoming increasingly used to having whatever we need delivered to our door. And now, if you own a Bentley in America, you can have fuel for your posh motor delivered to wherever your car may be.

The luxury car maker has teamed up with a US tech company called Filld to develop a new smartphone app, Filld for Bentley.

When the app is used, it will call someone out to your car’s location to fill it up with fuel.

Bentley’s Director of Product and Marketing, Christophe Georges, said:

Bentley ownership is about more than just the vehicle – it’s the entire luxury experience. We are continuously investigating ways in which to offer our customers tailored, convenient, smart services that afford them the greatest luxury of all: more time. Our Connected Car strategy will continue to expand and innovate in order to further enhance the Bentley lifestyle.

When the mobile gas attendant arrives at the car the app can communicate with the car to unlock the fuel filler cap without either the owner having to be present or the rest of the car being opened.

Cofounder and CTO of Filld, Christopher Aubuchon, added:

Filld and Bentley share a vision for leveraging powerful connected car technology – to one day eliminate the need for customers to refuel their cars themselves, removing inconvenience, and giving them more of their valuable time back.

The two companies foresee additional benefits in the future, including predictive fuel ordering where the car places an order for itself based on fuel level, location and customer preferences.

I wonder if you can order a bouquet of flowers and a soggy sandwich too, for that true petrol station experience.
