UK fishing vessel detained off Cork coast

The vessel was allegedly in breach of fishing regulations.

THE NAVAL SERVICE has detained a UK-registered boat off the coast of Cork on suspicion of breaching fishing regulations.

The L.É. AOIFE detained the vessel about 70 nautical miles south of the island.

It is currently in the process of being handed over to the UK Maritime Management Office and is expected to leave Irish waters to port in the UK later this evening.

So far in 2013, the Naval Service have boarded 926 vessels. This is the 14th boat to be detained.
