Five men die after wall collapses at recycling site in England

All five men were pronounced dead at the scene.

FIVE MEN HAVE died after a wall collapsed at a recycling site in Birmingham, England this morning.

The West Midlands Police said that emergency services attended the scene but all five men were pronounced dead at the scene. A sixth man has been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries.

A police spokesperson said that an investigation has begun to determine exactly what happened.

The industrial accident happened at the recycling site in Nechells, Birmingham, just before 8.45am this morning.

“We are still in the very early stages of this investigation to determine exactly what happened this morning,” said Detective Superintendent Mark Payne of the West Midlands Police.

“Sadly five people have lost their lives and we have several teams of specialist officers supporting their families at this time.”

Detective Superintendent Payne described it as a “very traumatic incident for those who were at the site”.
