Not quite a scorcher, but we can expect some nice sunny weather this weekend

There’s a risk of thundery showers today though.

IT’S NOT QUITE heatwave territory, but we can expect some pleasant enough weather this weekend.

The best conditions of the next few days will be between Friday and Sunday, but it will become changeable again after that.

Here’s the day-by-day for the weekend, from Met Éireann:

  • Friday: Mainly dry, with sunny spells, but with some scattered showers. Maximum temperatures of 14 to 17 generally, but 18 or 19 in southern coastal areas.
  • Saturday: Dry in most areas, with sunny spells, though becoming cloudy along west and southwest coasts, with a little patchy drizzle or light rain possible later. Temperatures of 15 to 20 Celsius.
  • Sunday: Dry in many areas, with some bright or sunny spells, but with a good deal of cloud, bringing a few patches of drizzle or light rain. Highs of 16 to 21 Celsius.

Changeable and unsettled weather will sweep in from the Atlantic next week.

Today and tomorrow

Looking ahead to later today, we can expect some scattered showers in the north – gradually becoming more widespread throughout the day.

According to the weather service’s website:

Some of the showers will be heavy and prolonged in places, with a risk of thundery downpours and spot flooding, especially in Leinster and east Munster.

There’ll be some scattered showers again tonight. Tomorrow will bring a mix of cloud and bright or sunny spells. There’ll be more showers too – some thundery, especially in the east.
