AN ARMY BOMB Disposal Team has made safe an improvised explosive device (IED) that was discovered on the same north Dublin lane where three devices were discovered just under two weeks ago.
The IED was found in a derelict building on Ballystruan Lane, off the Ballymund Road before 10am this morning.
The Defence Forces’ team arrived on the scene just after 10am and made safe the IED. No controlled explosion was carried out and the scene was declared safe at 11am.
On 18 November, Defence Forces made safe three viable devices in a derelict building on the Ballystruan Lane.
TheJournal.ie understands the devices were not placed there to target anyone but were likely being stored there.
The Defence Forces say this is the 225th call out of the Army Bomb Disposal Team this year and the 53rd viable device made safe.
