France has declared a state of emergency and closed its borders

Up to 60 people have died in Paris tonight in a series of terrorist attacks.

FRANCE HAS TAKEN the shocking and unprecedented decision to close its borders after a night of coordinated and deadly attacks in its capital.

Up to 40 people are thought to have died and another 60 injured in a series of shootings and explosions across Paris.

Police have stormed a theatre where a death metal band had been playing. At least 100 people died at the venue. Police confirmed that three militants were shot dead in the raid.

President Francois Hollande spoke to the people of France in a televised address shortly after news emerged of the horrific attacks.

He said that a number of decisions would be taken at a cabinet meeting, including calling a state of emergency and to close France’s borders.

The state of emergency means that certain areas will be closed to the public and travel may be banned.

Bataclan Concert Hall

  • Police have just stormed the Bataclan where up to 100 people were being held hostage. They say two militants were killed during the raid.
  • At least 15 people were shot and killed.
  • American band Eagles of Death Metal were playing at the venue.
  • Witnesses said two men entered the building and opened fire.

Stade de France

  • Two explosions were heard as France and Germany played a football match inside the stadium.
  • Police have confirmed that two suicide attacks and one bomb exploded near the stadium where the friendly game was being played.
  • President Hollande was in attendance and was evacuated.

Petit Cambodge Restaurant

  • 11 people were shot dead outside the restaurant in the 10th arrondissement.
  • Witnesses reported seeing men with Kalashnikov rifles.

Rue de Charonne

  • People have said that bodies are lying in the streets in the 10th arrondissement after reports of shootings.
