French school evacuated over 'serious' terrorist threat

An investigation has been launched to identity the person behind the online threat.

A SCHOOL IN northern France was evacuated this morning over a credible threat to staff and students, local media and authorities have said.

Over 2,000 students were evacuated from the Lycée Mireille Grenet in Compiègne to allow security forces to search the building.

The area was cordoned off by police and classes were cancelled for the day.

A regional newspaper, the Courrier Picard, reported that the threat was issued online by a person suspected to be a student of the high school.

A message quoted by the paper claimed “small radio-controlled bombs” had been hidden on the grounds of the school.

Local authorities said an investigation has been launched to identity the person responsible for the threat.
