Security van bursts into flames in Wicklow

A G4S vehicle has caught fire while travelling on the M11 in Wicklow.

TRAFFIC IS MOVING again on the  M11 southbound between junctions 17 and 18 at Ballinabarney, after the remains of a G4S security van which caught fire were cleared. Earlier today traffic was reduced to one lane and for road users experienced some delays.

A Garda spokesman said that the fire appeared to be a mechanical incident and that there is no evidence of criminality.

G4S confirmed that the vehicle was one of their cash in transit vans. The company said that nobody was injured and that it intends to carry out an investigation to establish the cause of the fire.
