Man in 50s found dead in Galway mountains

The man’s body was discovered yesterday evening.

THE BODY OF a man in his late 50s was found in the Twelve Bens mountain range near Kylemore in Galway yesterday.

A garda spokesperson said the climber was found at around 4.30pm.

Galway Mountain Rescue had been called in to assist but was stood down after the Coast Guard’s rescue helicopter crew found the man’s body.

He was taken to Galway University Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

A post-mortem is due to take place but gardaí said they are treating it as a “tragic incident”.
