Gardaí injured after patrol car 'rammed' in Portlaoise, four men arrested

GSOC have been informed and are sending a team of investigators to the scene.

TWO GARDAÍ HAVE been injured following a collision with a car in Portlaoise.

GSOC have been informed of the incident and have sent a team of investigators to the scene.

Both gardaí and the occupant of the other car involved in the collision have been hospitalised, but their injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

It is understood that the garda car may have been rammed.

Four people were arrested at the scene.

GSOC said this evening that incident was referred to them in accordance with Section 102 of the Garda Síochána Act.
