Man due in court over Tallaght stand-off

The man will be in court today.

A STAND-OFF BETWEEN gardaí and an armed man in Tallaght was resolved peacefully after 14 hours.

A man, in his 40s will appear before a court in Dublin today, charged in connection with the incident.

Specialist garda negotiators had opened up communications with the man, who had barricaded himself into an building in the Kiltipper area.

Gardaí say the lone man fired a number of shots earlier this morning.

He was alone in the house, and was taken into custody after leaving the house unarmed.

No injuries have been reported after armed gardaí attended the scene.

A security cordon was in place at the house, located in the Deerpark area of Tallaght.

The incident had been ongoing since early yesterday morning, when gardaí were called at roughly 2.30am.

Locals reported hearing as many as 20 shots being fired.
