Two charged after garda struck and seriously injured by stolen car

Two other gardaí received minor injuries in the incident, which happened in Balbriggan last night.

A MAN AND a woman have been charged after a garda was struck by a car in the northside Dublin suburb of Balbriggan last night.

It’s believed the garda was attempting to stop the car when it hit him.

He has been taken to Beaumont Hospital for treatment. His injuries are serious but not life-threatening.

The car had been stolen, and gardaí have confirmed they are also investigating a burglary connected to the incident.

The two people charged – both aged in their mid-20s – are due to appear before the Courts of Criminal Justice in Dublin tomorrow morning.

The incident happened shortly before 11pm last night.

Two other gardaí received minor injuries, with one requiring hospital treatment.

Two garda vehicles were also damaged.
