Investigation launched into death of former garda in Cavan

The body of a man was discovered in a house near Bailieborough earlier today.

THE BODY OF a man was found at a house near Bailieborough in county Cavan just after noon today.

The area in Canningstown has been sealed off for technical and forensic examinations. The State Pathologist has been notified.

The deceased is a former member of An Garda Síochána, according to reports.

The man, 49, had suffered gunshot wounds, according to RTÉ.

The Department of Justice confirmed to TheJournal.ie that a Garda investigation has been launched and said no further information was available at this time.
