Garda taken to hospital after Dublin house fire

The garda had attempted to remove a person from a burning house in Dublin.

A MEMBER OF An Garda Síochána has been taken to hospital after attempting to rescue a person from a burning house in Dublin.

Gardaí were called to the house in Walkinstown after reports of an altercation between two people.

Dublin Fire Brigade received an ambulance call to attend the scene on Walkinstown Road.

A fire subsequently broke out and the garda attempted to rescue a person who was still inside the house.

He suffered smoke inhalation and was taken from the house by fire fighters who were equipped with breathing apparatuses. They then rescued the person in the house.

The garda was taken to hospital, but his injuries are not thought to be serious.
