Gardaí, army and fire brigade called to fire in Louth

Luckily, nobody was injured in the blaze at Castlebellingham.

GARDAÍ AND OTHER emergency services attended a fire at a house in Castlebellingham in Louth last night.

Gardaí told TheJournal.ie that two men were treated at the scene for smoke inhalation. They were not in the house at the time of the blaze but came across it after it started.

The passers-by tried to stop it from spreading, said the Garda spokesperson.

An army bomb disposal team was also dispatched to the scene over concerns about items that may have been in the house, RTÉ has reported.

It is understood the owner of the house could be a collector of military artefacts.

About 25 fire fighters were called to the scene after midnight on Friday.
