Gardaí have already arrested 12 drink drivers today

There has also been a road traffic accident on the M3.

GARDAÍ ARE URGING drivers heading home for Christmas not to drink drive.

Already today, gardaí have arrested 12 people for drink-driving.

The appeal comes as people begin the journey home for Christmas.

In Meath, a collision involving up to seven vehicles has seen the closure of the M3 northbound between Dunshaughlin and Skryne/Kilmessan. It is unknown if there are any injuries.

AA Roadwatch is warning motorists that the road has patches of black ice on it.

In Galway, the N18 road to Limerick is closed at Labane due to flooding.

Elsewhere, traffic is reported to be easing off.
